Breathing Tour Day 22 with Saint Thomas More

The felicity is flowing
In ourselves
In our classrooms
In our schools

What was once foiled
Is now flourishing

We’re firing the fear that kept our fun restrained
And unleashing the fierce friendly nature that flows within

We are waking up the innate joy within us
And allowing it to unfold.

Boundless
Expanded
Courageous
Free

This is the new paradigm in our classrooms.

Breathing with the eighth graders at Saint Thomas More felt like fun that has a deeper quality to it.

A sacredness.

Sacred fun.

Sincere smiles.

We breathed in joy and washed away the stains of doubt and worry.

We considered…

Can our insecurities actually be replaced with security?

Every day, we can bring in the power of positive security and place it where it needs to go.

We can do this every minute or even every second when we focus on our breath and on our inner mantra. We can give ourselves any mantra we wish.

We inhale we can think the word PEACE and when we exhale we can think the word LOVE.  The volume of the mantra is turned up inside our head and infused with our breath. Our worries get quieter.

When we replace insecurity with security, we will see things in a different way.

There is a physical location of the anxiety and if we get good at it, we can project to that location and send it out with one breath.

We can practice standing,

sitting,

lying down,

or with partners.

We can breathe in  joy, curiosity, wonder, happiness.

We remember to check our stance. When worried, our body tightens, our thighs press forward, we can have the feeling of jumping out of our skin.

When we feel wonderful, our body relaxes, our hips and thighs rest back, stomach loosens, our breathing relaxes and is more even.

We can choose whether to practice standing, sitting, lying down or with partners.

We can aim for an uplifted chest, courageous heart, and wide brightened eyes.

It takes strength and courage to keep ourselves optimistic and generous.

Friendly and expanded.

Connected and free.

We can lead the breathing ourselves. We can show how to smile in order to not harden. Greet each breath, each shape, with softness and sweet compassion. Anything we feel as an obstruction, we can greet it with more softening, and be sure it receives more breath.

Thank you Eighth graders of Saint Thomas More for your focus, your felicity, your connection.

Thank you to all who volunteered to practice teaching!

Thank you Wally of Kelley Sue Photography for capturing their joy.

Breathe Free,

Lady Inhale
