Dr. Erin Mason

Erin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University. She teaches in the School Counseling (M.Ed. and Ed.S) and Counselor Education and Practice (Ph.D.) programs. Erin has authored numerous articles and book chapters in her discipline, and she is a co-author of 101 Solutions for School Counselors and Leaders in Challenging Times. Erin's research focuses on topics including evidence-based practices in mental health in schools, school counselor professional identity, and the use of technology in school counseling and counselor preparation. In addition to her scholarly work, Erin is a co-founder of the first Twitter hashtag for school counselors, #scchat, and she enjoys connecting professionally with others on social media. Before joining the faculty at GSU, Erin was an Associate Professor at DePaul University in Chicago for nine years in the Department of Counseling and Special Education. Erin is a native of Atlanta and spent the earlier part of her career as a middle school counselor for 13 years in Cobb and Gwinnett counties. Along with her team of researchers, Erin is proud to support the success of On the Same Breath, and she aims to provide an evidence-base for using breathing practices in schools.
