Compound Interest of a Deep Breath Deposit at Trinity School

Compound interest is the addition of interest to the principal sum of a deep breath deposit.

Interest on interest.

It is the result of reinvesting interest,

so that interest in the next breath is then earned on the principal sum plus previously accumulated interest.

“Compound Interest is Max’s Mantra.

We utter a mantra in rhythmic repetition to entrain our minds with a specific positive frequency. Other noble students shared their high frequency mantras of Love and Peace and Gratitude.

It can uplift and optimize our spirit to inhale and think “Love” and exhale and think “Thankful.”

Max inhales and thinks “Compound” and exhales and thinks “Interest”.

That’s powerful.

He’s committed to building his deep breath capacity. And so are his fifth grade colleagues at Trinity School.

A commitment to a deep connection with the heart, with fellow students, teachers, subjects and the world that connects us all.

A connection to living and learning and to the community which is necessary in classrooms for authentic education to take place.

It’s a rare mix of elegance and rigor, passion, and precision – a gift to all who aim for more.

The fifth graders have been challenged to go beyond the #4breathsfor40days and pursue excellence. This has lead to continuing the Rise Up Quest and beginning the Get It Together Quest.

This is a challenge we can celebrate.  Together.

We can celebrate the protection and support of the inner journey at the heart of connection.

We can celebrate the deepened, renewed and sustained vitality.

We can celebrate the compound interest of the breath currency.

We can celebrate the enlargement of our lungs, the enlargement of our capacity to teach and to learn.

We can celebrate the strength of our parasympathetic nervous system.

We can celebrate the strength of our sensitivity.

We can celebrate how the compound interest of our deep breathing into our left nostril stimulates the Vagus Nerve -acts as a break on the stress response.

We can celebrate the wealth of honor in breathing together.

Thank you Trinity School for inviting me in to breathe with you all.

Thank you Max for sharing a most unique and intriguing mantra for me to consider. Here’s to the body wealth.

Thank you Jackie Sears, Thomas Benefield, Bridget Billups, Kelly Swanton and all the rest of the fifth grade teachers for the gracious reception and enthusiasm. My heart is full.

Thank you Jedd Austin for the beautiful captures of our time together.

On The Same Breath,

Lady Inhale
